Over 40 venues, signature cocktails and exclusive masterclasses – Birmingham Cocktail Weekend is back for 2018.
Brands including Chambord, Tanqueray, and Wray & Nephew are heading to the city as Birmingham Cocktail Weekend (BCW) returns Friday 13 to Sunday 15 July.
One of my favourite annual events, BCW brings together some of the city’s biggest bars, restaurants, and brands for three days of tasting sessions, masterclasses, live music, as well as giving wristband-holders the chase to taste signature cocktails at each participating venue.
And this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before as cocktail connoisseurs will have the chance to interact with brands and master mixologists like never before.
It all kicks off on Friday 13, where wristband holders will need to make their way to this year’s the Hub in the Urban Rooms at the Mailbox. Here, they’ll be able to exchange e-tickets for those all-important wristbands which entitle wearers to £4 signature cocktails at each venue across the weekend.
Before you set off on your cocktail trail, don’t forget to pop and say hello to this year’s BCW headline sponsor Edinburgh Gin, who will be serving up tasters at the Hub.
After that, the cocktail world is your oyster as you drink your way from place to place, where you can take part in a masterclass on single-malt whiskies at Birmingham Whisky Club, led by specialist Joe Ellis. And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, why not head to Harvey Nichols at the Mailbox, where you can sip on your cocktail and enjoy live music from Elegant Entertainment.
Saturday is jam-packed with events – some of which have already sold out, so make sure you check the BCW website to book your space before heading along! From Tanqueray tasting sessions at the Jekyll & Hyde, and Bols Genever masterclass at The Distillery, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
The fun continues on Sunday with more cocktails and events for you to discover. Last year’s Best Cocktail champion Be At One is hosting a Wray & Nephew masterclass, and lucky ticket holders will be treated to a masterclass in this delicious rum that has been distilled in Jamaica for over 190 years.
Or, why not treat yourself to a Chambord afternoon tea at Marco Pierre White, where at just 20 per person you can indulge in sweet treats and tipples, all whilst soaking in the panoramic views of the city’s evolving skyline.
Wristbands for BCW 2018 are still up for grabs, which you can buy here. At just £10 each, how can you say no to a weekend full of cocktail shenanigans!
